IHOP Illinois Menu with Prices
Updated September 1, 2026
Illinois has 41 IHOP restaurants across 34 cities — a comparatively thin footprint for a state of its population, and one where almost every market outside Chicago holds a single restaurant. Chicago itself has the most, with Aurora next, and the surrounding Chicagoland suburbs account for much of the remainder through towns like Addison, Bolingbrook, Bridgeview, Cicero and Crestwood.
The split between Chicagoland and downstate is the defining feature here. The northeastern corner of the state carries most of the restaurants within an hour's drive of each other, while the rest of Illinois is spread thin: Bloomington, Springfield and Carbondale sit far apart along I-55 and I-57, and long stretches of the drive between them have no IHOP at all. If you are travelling downstate, plan the stop rather than expecting to find one at the next exit.
IHOP does not run a separate Illinois menu — every restaurant in the state serves the national lineup, so the items and prices below match what you will find on the full IHOP menu with prices. What changes between states is location density, opening hours and local tax, which is what this page covers.

What Illinois Diners Should Know
Chicago has one of the highest prepared-food tax rates in the country
Illinois charges 6.25% state sales tax, but prepared food inside Chicago stacks city, county, transit-authority and restaurant taxes on top, bringing the total to roughly 10.75% in much of the city. That is materially higher than the suburbs, so the same meal ordered in Chicago and in a collar-county restaurant will not ring up the same total.
Chicagoland is dense, downstate is not
Within the Chicago metro you can usually reach an alternative restaurant if one is busy or closed. Downstate that is rarely true — Carbondale, Bloomington and similar markets have a single location, so a temporary closure means the next nearest restaurant may be an hour or more away. Check the location listing before making the trip.
Winter hours are worth confirming
Illinois franchises adjust hours seasonally, and severe winter weather leads to late openings and early closes, particularly at suburban and downstate restaurants. Posted hours are a guide, not a guarantee — confirm with the restaurant or the IHOP app during a storm.

IHOP Illinois Menu FAQ
How many IHOP locations are in Illinois?
Illinois has 41 IHOP restaurants across 34 cities. Chicago has the most, followed by Aurora, with suburbs including Addison, Bolingbrook, Bridgeview and Cicero making up much of the rest and downstate markets such as Bloomington and Carbondale carrying a single restaurant each. The Illinois locations directory lists them all.
Why does an IHOP meal cost more in Chicago than in the suburbs?
Tax is a large part of it. Illinois levies 6.25% state sales tax, and Chicago adds city, county, transit and restaurant taxes on prepared food, taking the combined rate to about 10.75% in much of the city — among the highest restaurant tax burdens in the country. Franchise pricing differences on top of that widen the gap further.
Is there a special Illinois or Chicago IHOP menu?
No. IHOP serves one national menu, so Illinois restaurants offer the same pancakes, omelettes, combos and melts as every other state. There is no Chicago-specific item, and limited-time promotions are launched nationally rather than by region.
Are there IHOP restaurants near O'Hare or in downstate Illinois?
Coverage is concentrated in the Chicago metro, and the 34 Illinois cities in our directory include a number of suburban markets near the airport corridor as well as downstate cities such as Bloomington, Springfield and Carbondale. Rather than assume a particular exit has one, check the Illinois locations directory for the nearest restaurant to your route and confirm its hours before setting out.
Which Illinois IHOP locations are open 24 hours or late?
Late-night and 24-hour service is decided per franchise and is more likely in the Chicago metro than downstate. Hours also change seasonally and in bad weather. Check the individual location listing or the IHOP app, and call the restaurant to confirm before a late visit.
