IHOP Delivery: Apps, Fees and How to Order

By Amanda, Content WriterReviewed

The short answer

IHOP does not run its own delivery fleet. Orders are fulfilled by DoorDash, Uber Eats and Grubhub, and menu prices on those apps are typically set 15–25% above the in-restaurant price before delivery fees, service fees and tip. Ordering carryout through the IHOP app instead avoids that markup entirely, which is the single biggest saving available on an IHOP order.

How IHOP delivery actually works

IHOP partners with third-party platforms rather than employing drivers. When you order "IHOP delivery" you are ordering through DoorDash, Uber Eats or Grubhub, and that platform handles the driver, the tracking and the support. Availability is set per restaurant, so a location three miles away may be on one app and not another. If a restaurant shows as unavailable, check a different app before assuming it does not deliver.

What delivery actually costs you

There are three separate charges stacked on a delivery order, and only one of them is obvious:

  • Menu markup — platforms commonly list restaurant items above the dine-in price, typically 15–25% higher, because the restaurant pays the platform a commission of roughly 15–30%.
  • Delivery fee — varies by distance and demand. Fees fall in the mid-afternoon lull and peak during the 6–8 PM dinner rush.
  • Service fee and tip — a percentage of the subtotal plus whatever you tip the driver.

How to pay less on an IHOP order

The cheapest route is carryout ordered in the IHOP app, which charges menu price with no markup and no delivery fee. If you do want delivery, comparing the same restaurant across two apps is worth the sixty seconds — the same order frequently differs by several dollars. Subscription plans (DashPass, Uber One, Grubhub+) run about $9.99 a month and waive delivery fees, which only pays off if you order several times a month.

Delivery vs carryout: a worked example

Take a straightforward order — an All-Star Special at $11.75 and a Two-Egg Breakfast at $5.20, $16.95 at menu price. On a delivery app the same two items are commonly listed around 20% higher, roughly $20.30, before a delivery fee of a few dollars, a service fee calculated on the subtotal, and a tip. A $17 order can realistically land near $30 by the time it reaches the door. Collected from the restaurant through the IHOP app, it stays at $16.95 plus tax. That gap is the single clearest saving available on any IHOP order, and it grows with the size of the ticket.

What you cannot use on a delivery order

Discounts that depend on being in the restaurant do not carry over. The 55+ senior menu, IHOPPY Hour pricing and the Veterans Day offer are dine-in or carryout only. MyHOP Rewards offers are redeemed through IHOP's own app and generally cannot be applied to a third-party delivery order.

IHOP Delivery: Apps, Fees and How to Order — frequently asked questions

Does IHOP have its own delivery?

No. IHOP does not employ delivery drivers. Every delivery order goes through DoorDash, Uber Eats or Grubhub, and that platform handles the driver and support.

Is IHOP more expensive on DoorDash?

Usually yes. Delivery platforms commonly list menu items 15–25% above the in-restaurant price to offset the commission they charge the restaurant, and delivery and service fees sit on top of that. Carryout ordered in the IHOP app charges menu price.

Can I use IHOP coupons on delivery?

Generally no. MyHOP Rewards offers are redeemed inside the IHOP app and typically do not apply to third-party delivery orders. IHOPPY Hour and the 55+ menu are also restaurant-only.

Which delivery app is cheapest for IHOP?

It varies by order and location, so compare before you check out. Grubhub tends to carry lower delivery fees on small orders, DoorDash has the widest restaurant coverage, and Uber Eats often dispatches fastest. The menu markup is set by the restaurant and is similar across platforms.

Does IHOP deliver 24 hours?

Delivery hours follow the restaurant and the platform, not IHOP's opening hours alone. 524 of the 978 restaurants in our directory run 24 hours, but delivery windows are usually shorter than the dining room's. Check the app for the specific restaurant.

Can I order IHOP delivery for a large group?

Yes, though large orders are better placed directly with the restaurant. Family Feasts and catering-style orders are easier to arrange by phone or through the IHOP app, and you avoid the delivery markup on a large ticket.
